About Us
QUA means “to overcome” - a nod to resilience and starting anew.
Inspired by Saigon’s historic Chinatown, Chợ Lớn, and rooted in Chef Viet Nguyen’s family history, QUA serves Chinese dishes shaped by a Vietnamese backdrop. The menu blends tradition and personal memory, offering familiar flavors with a sense of care, culture, and connection.
Rooted In Memory
Grandma Vũ
Chef Viet Nguyen’s grandmother, Vũ Thị Lan, fled North Vietnam with ten children and rebuilt her life in Saigon. Before QUA was a restaurant, it was her kitchen and we honor her legacy with dishes inspired by the meals she once made.
Chợ Lớn
Chợ Lớn, Saigon’s Chinatown, is a historic enclave shaped by markets, temples, and distinct Chinese-Vietnamese traditions. It’s where generations built community through commerce, culture, and cuisine - a spirit we carry forward at QUA.
Our Menu
Our menu blends Grandma Vũ’s home cooking with the street food of Chợ Lớn, creating Vietnamese-Chinese dishes made for sharing. From siu-mei roast meats to Hainanese chicken rice, these are the dishes that brought people together and still do.
